Royals to gather for Trooping the Colour today

Event billed as largest of Jubilee celebrations

King Charles III to take salute for the first time as monarch

King Charles III will take part in Trooping the Colour today, an event filled with military pageantry to mark his official birthday. The parade will see more than 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians march past Buckingham Palace. The King will take the salute from the balcony of the palace.

The event is the first of several planned to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The Queen is celebrating 70 years on the throne this year.

Other members of the royal family will also be in attendance, including the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will also be there with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The parade will begin at 11am and will last for about an hour. It will be broadcast live on BBC One.
